DFWAA Awards

The Dallas-Ft. Worth Alumnae Association has received numerous awards since its founding in December 2000.  With an average membership of 12 women, the DFWAA has earned recognitions
both at a local and national level. The DFWAA was first recognized by Sigma Lambda Gamma's National Board at the 2002
National Convention in Washington, DC.  The DFWAA walked away with the first-ever Outstanding Alumnae Association Award. This was a tremendous honor, as the association set the bar for future nominees.

In the Fall of that same year, the DFWAA was awarded the 2002 Alumni Chapter of the Year Award by the National Association of Latino Fraternal Organizations and Latinogreeks.com. This was a great accomplishment for both the DFWAA and the sorority as a whole, as it was the first time Sigma Lambda Gamma was given this honor. Both awards were based on event programming, contributions to the Latino community, contributions to the greek community and individual members' accomplishments and
recognitions.

In 2003 the DFWAA continued with quality programming that reached out to the community. As a result, in October 2003 the SLG National Vice President of Finance Nellie Nevarez accepted the 2003 Alumni Chapter of the Year
Award
on behalf of the DFWAA at the annual National Association of Latino Fraternal Organizations and latinogreeks.com Convention. The Association managed to, once again, blow away
the judges.

The Association presented a workshop at the 2004 SLG Convention to help other alumnae associations with their programming and service to the community. Also, because of local contributions, the DFWAA was featured in the Hispanic Women's Network of Texas newsletter, Hispanas in Action.
